Is High Tech Necessarily Scientific?

Actually, it is Allopathy that is unscientific, not Homeopathy. Allopathic Medicine claims to be highly scientific due to it use of cutting edge technologies but it is the theory behind the flashy technology that is flawed. Homeopathy is based on logic and precise adherence to natural healing laws applied with careful observation and analysis of symptoms as well as knowledge of the healing potential of medicines based on direct Human experimentation (provings and accidental as well as suicidal poisonings). This system of methods and practices of promoting health and healing disease was set forth nearly 200 years ago by Doctor Samuel Hahnemann, M.D. in his ground-breaking, and still generally unrecognized and undiscovered, medical work Organon der Heilkunst, the first edition published in Germany in 1810. This is an external link to both the 5th and 6th editions of The Organon at "Homeopathe International". In English the title translates from the German to The Organon of Healing or simply The Organon. This is the fundamental work upon which Homeopathy is based and has and grown into the modern holistic healing science and art that it is today.

Technology is great and can be beneficial in some cases, but the core of healing is the Vital Force, the body's own vast reservoir of largely untapped healing powers. This is the energetic force which is stimulated by homeopathic medicines. Funny, many allopathic doctors dismiss Homeopathy while they don't even have an accurate understanding of the definition of this extraordinary healing system. Homeopathy is not, I'm afraid to disillusion you, a system of medicine in which infinitessimally small doses of medicines are administered. No. Homeopathy uses (except for the very lowest potencies from 1x to 6x and 1c to 3c and mother tinctures of course) dynamically prepared energetic harmonics of the medicine to stimulate the vital force directly. It indeed is a bio-dynamic system of medicine which employs the unique energy signature, if you will, of medicinal substances in various potencies or strengths to assist patients in self-healing. As a matter of fact, most Homeopaths mostly employ the potencies of 6c and above, which are well above the dilution level in which Avogadro's number pretty much becomes irrelevant.

There's No “There” There...

Allopaths are heavily trained in math and science so it would be a very simple calculation for most to make to find out the probable number of molecules which exist in each centessimal potency of an homeopathic remedy. Moles and all that sort of things you know. You do the math. Can an homeopathic pharmaceutical company and ask about how the medicines are made. They are made very precisely according to the details set out in the United States Homeopathic Pharmacopeia. If math and science are to the rules of judgement in trials and clinical tests, then it must also be the measure for theoretical speculation and inquiry. There are no molecules of the original medicinal substance from which the remedy potency has been made in a potency above the 6c. I challenge anyone to prove mathematically to me that there is a measurable physical substance, either by chemical analysis or mathematical equations (other than sucrose and lactose from which the pellets are made, which are medicated with an alcohol potency of a remedy and then dried and packaged...).

Adjunctive and supplemental therapies aside such as vitamins, herbs, massage, chiropractic and so on, all healing is done by the vital force when a patient undergoes Homeopathic Therapy. Technology can save a live and this is fantastic, but the routine, daily practice of medicine must first be able to understand the fundamentals of healing. Using the expensive, high-tech, poisonous or dangerous procedure first doesn't make sense when healers should do no harm first, as they have sworn not to do according to The Hippocratic Oath. The gentler, safer, more curative modalities should be tried first in most cases and these are governed by natural healing laws that are simply not taught in medical schools, alas. Well, there is always continuing education and homeopathic seminars for medical professionals are being offered more and more now which is good.

Since Allopathic Medicine is not based on any logical or scientific philosophy, its perspective reflects a view of medicine based predominantly on Pasteurian germ theory of diseases which almost necessitates a war-like mentality in perceiving illness, patients and diseases with the concomitant destructive and unnatural methods inherent in such a view illustrated by such methods as the administration of toxic medicines, routine suppression of syptoms, radical and unnecessary surgery and dangerous procedures. It is no wonder that Allopathic Medicine is based today on such a perspective characterized by a mechanized, Frankensteinian view of the Human Being: the therapies and treatments that have developed reveal just such a mentality in regards to medicine.

Homeopathy demonstrates daily that health and healing come solely from the Vital Force, the dynamic energy system which governs and maintains homeostasis, growth, regeneration and all aspects of living in a body of flesh and blood. Homeopaths understand that the source of disease in most cases stems from energetic, miasmatic and vibrational disturbances to the Vital Force and which only dynamic or energetic (not crude) medicines can realign back to an harmonious and balanced state of health. The Vital Force is the name of the life force which in other systems of natural healing has different names, such as Chi or Qi in Oriental Medicine and Prana in eastern yoga practices. But there is one huge difference between these ancient folk medicines and the new medical system of Homeopathy: Homeopaths do not decide how to heal the body, but know that the Vital Force knows what to do. We have to attend to acute and life-threatening ailments with physical intervention and allopathic methods, but not for chronic conditions and diseases. We do not theorize as to five organ/zhang-fu theory or yin/yang or winds, or acupuncture point or herb selection, but need only give the most similar remedy to the objective and subjective symptoms of the patient for the Vital Force to react to it in a curative, gentle and rapid way. Homeopathically speaking, this totality of symptoms expressed by the Vital Force of the patient represents the actual disease as well as its healing agent.

Different Systems, Different Protocols

Allopathic Medicine has many wonderful things to offer us. And when disease or trauma are of a severe nature or Homeopathic Doctors are not available, Allopathic Medicine can save lives, relieve suffering and "buy time" for the patient until a holistic healer such an Homeopath can be consulted to address the inner aspect of the disease. I believe the two main systems of medicine should work together side by side. But Allopathy has purchased influence in Washington and has a near monopoly on accepted medical theory and methods as well as control of congressional purse strings. One way of denouncing Homeopathy by those small minded practitioners who wish to be rid of professional competition is to cry that Homeopathy is not scientific. The allopathic view of medicine has been sold to the government and the public so successfully that few have the ability to see outside this box. For example, it is completely erroneous to challenge the science of Homeopathic Medicine to demonstrate its healing powers by insisting they employ the same protocols and parameters that the Allopathic School of Medicine uses to test its own theories. Homeopathic Medicine is based on completely different principles than Allopathic Medicine which require completely different protocols.

Homeopathic Medicine is founded on the principle of individualization of treatment for each patient at any one point in time, based on the totality of the symptoms, (which supersede in hierarchy, but do not exclude for consideration in the remedy selection process: diagnoses, prognoses or laboratory test results). One important reason that you can't accurately demonstrate the healing abilities of Homeopathy using allopathic controls is that each patient requires a different remedy. Some study participants will need the same remedy but most will require different medicines for the same condition, tailored to that person's symptoms, history and etiology. You cannot perform a homeopathic clinical study for any particular condition or disease using the same remedy for every study participant as is the custom with allopathic studies because it simply doesn't work. And like the mistaken belief that homeopathic medicines are really just highly diluted medicines, the lack of knowledge of the individualization requirement in homeopathic therapy reveals even more ignorance about Homeopathic Medicine by Allopaths, and surprisingly, a lot of "Homeopaths"!

If you give the same homeopathic remedy to everyone in the study, you will get very poor results, since one of the main principles of Homeopathy will have been violated: Individualization. The Law of Similars will be violated if you give the same remedy to everyone in the study, thereby undermining Homeopathy's cardinal principle and, therefore, its ability to ameliorate the ailment, disease or condition being studied at all. The remedy must be similar to the patient's symptoms or it will not act curatively. This is, by definition, the core of Homeopathic Therapeutics. Similarly, in homeopathic practice keynote and automatic or rote selection of remedies without taking the entire case properly is just as flawed and useless if not dangerous to the patient. If the remedy is not similar to the patient's symptoms then it can only act suppressively or, if taken repeatedly, will be proved by the patient. In any case a non-homeopathic remedy will not stimulate the Vital Force into a healing reaction of the disease. So why take it at all? It will just confuse the case. The one remedy at a time rule in Homeopathy assumes that it is the correct and homeopathic medicine that is needed by the patient at the time. After the correct remedy is selected and taken and time enough is allowed for the healing reaction to do its work, then a different medicine my become indicated, depending on what each patient needs. So, as anyone who can think logically can see, giving the same medicine to all participants of an homeopathic clinical trial or study is completely unscientific.

Placebos and Controls

Each "case" or subject in the study must have a consultation with the Homeopath(s) who are designated as the prescribers of the indicated homeopathic remedy for each individual and the clinical results can be analyzed from there. Sufficient time must be allowed to elapse after the single administration of the remedy for the Vital Force to react to it and to make the physiological changes in the body that are required to bring about homeostasis and a higher level of health; to bring about an amelioration, if one is to occur, if the remedy selected is the correct one for this individual--the similimum. Placebos, double-blind conditions and all such protocols which help to preserve objectivity and eliminate bias are, of course, acceptable for homeopathic medical studies. Placebos (unmedicated sugar pellets) are difficult to identify in Homeopathy as they look and taste just like medicated sugar pellets and help to make the study more scientific by making it more difficult for control patients who have received a placebo not to discover this fact until the study is concluded. Allopathic study placebos are easier to discover since the patient can break open pills and taste it to see if there is medicine inside in a lot of cases. Homeopathic clinical studies with control groups given placebos will effectively prove wrong all those who ignorantly state that any therapeutic effects of Homeopathy come from the placebo effect or, as doctors like to frequently state to their patients, "It's all in your head!". This is because those study participants who receive their similimum will travel a very different course in relation to their illness or condition in the study from those who receive a placebo, making it quite obvious that Homeopathy must first be individualized and that any therapeutic benefits received are not from the "placebo effect".

The New System of Medicine

As stated before, homeopathic clinical trials for any particular ailment must be done on an individualized basis with the appropriate remedy given to each individual in the study, indicated to the Homeopath by the totality of the symptoms, the causations and the case history of each participant. Clinical results after administration of the similimum can either be compared to placebo doses, allopathic treatments or non-treatment. In any case, the only scientific way to do homeopathic clinical trials is to design them to accommodate Homeopathy's unique and very different philosophy and principles of healing as outlined in The Organon and other classic homeopathic medical texts.

I'd like to remind readers that Homeopathic Medicine is a new and relatively young system of medical therapeutics and is not based on any sort of folk medicine tradition such as Acupuncture, Tibetan Medicine or Ayurveda, as many medical organizations would have you believe by erroneously classifying Homeopathy under their traditional or folk medicine category of therapeutic systems. The publication of the First Edition of Organon der Heilkunst in Germany in 1810 by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann marks the birth of Classical Homeopathic Therapeutics. Classical refers not to how old the therapeutic system is, but to how it is employed. The methods and general principles which Hahnemann himself and his principle students taught, wrote about and practiced comprise the general rules of Classical Homeopathy, as outlined in great detail in the fifth and six editions of Organon.

Homeopathy is a type of biodynamic medicine - a healing system which will celebrate its bicentennial in 2010! So called "modern or scientific medicine" is actually the latest façade of an ancient school of medicine which dates back to the ancient Greeks and Egyptians and included those practices of the "Heroic School" of the 18th & 19th centuries in Europe and America such as bleeding, leaching, dosing with mercury and other toxic compounds, purging, abuse of emetics, diaphoretics and many other medically barbaric practices. In fact, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann went to medical school and began practicing medicine during this age of medical ignorance and out of his disgust and disillusionment of the medical practices of the day, came his determination to create a new, more curative, gentle and natural system of medicine. And the great medical genius did just that! His name deserves to be among the greatest of scientists, as one day it will when Homeopathy is finally understood and employed by the majority in stead of an elite minority.

Some Other Points to Consider

There is actually no such thing as a specific cure for any particular disease! Well alost never. Some diseases call strongly for one or two medicines which are frequently specifics for certain conditions; and also in epidemic diseases this may be the case, but the great majority of cases each need a different remedy, to be discovered by properly taking the patient's case. According to Classical Homeopathy, every patient's case must be taken individually and given the most similar remedy called for by their particular mix of symptoms, history, etiology and other other factors which effect their health such as lifestyle factors, diet and so on. When a call is put out or a quest is made by the allopathic medical establishment to find a cure for a particular disease, it is really nothing more than a request for your money to fund gargantuan research and development institutions and corporations and to sell new pharmaceutical products on a mass scale, in a profit-driven system.

But the great tragedy is that the enormous healing powers of Homeopathy are largely ignored by the mainstream medical thinkers, mostly due to lack of understanding and greed. New and emerging infectious and seemingly incurable diseases such as S.A.R.S., Nodding Syndrome in the Southern Sudan, a host of diseases that infect Man by jumping from animal populations in unsanity conditions in Asia and Africa for example, T.S.E. Diseases and many more treaten public health, travel and business networks, economies and effect everyone in the new global community and economy. Not to employ the vast therapeutic and also prophylactic powers of Homeopathy smacks of small-minded sectarianism and economic turf wars. Humanity needs all the healing powers it can muster and this means that we must use both Allopathic and Homeopathic Medicines together and individually where most appropriate and feasible to improve healthcare and disease prevention both on a personal and a global scale.

One of the great advantages of Allopathy with its technological advances, however, is that it can buy the patient time in cases of extreme trauma and suffering or in cases of imminent death. Homeopathy, on the other hand, can come in afterwards and add years and even decades to ones lifespan and raise the quality of health of the patient by quantum leaps on physical as well as emotional and mental levels by routing out chronic disease tendencies and causes, suppressions and by generally improving the efficiency of bodily functions. This is how Allopathy and Homeopathy should work: together, utilizing the best of both systems of medicine to improve the health of patients, while honestly acknowledging each system's limitations as well as its strengths. The individually and correctly prescribed homeopathic remedy(ies) can and will act curatively in most cases, whereas routinely prescribed allopathic medication based strictly on a diagnosis, drug promotion manuals or laboratory test results will in most cases seem to act curatively at first, since they usually make symptoms "disappear", but in fact will act suppressively and in the long term, the patient ends up sicker, regressing toward the development of chronic illness, shortened lifespan and a much poorer quality of life, which symptoms are incorrectly dismissed as "old age" or complications of the primary condition.

One of the main reasons why clinical trails and medical research studies are biased toward finding a single allopathic drug that can be used for millions of people with the same ailment is because the petrochemical corporations are among the wealthiest sponsors of medical education in this country and use their money to bias medical students, medical professors, doctors and research institutions. Medicine must be principally based on and driven by the needs of patients and not profit. Pharmaceutical companies want to develop drugs and patent them to make huge fortunes from sick people, insurance companies and sources of public health funds. It is unethical to mix big business and medicine, with profit as the main motivation. Obviously all those in business need to make money to stay in business, but a fair and reasonable profit is a far cry from highway robbery. Conflicts of interest are bound to arise in medicine where profit is of principle interest and in the end, the sick pay hugely inflated prices for their medical treatments to the avaricious and the greedy. Separation of big business and medicine should be a fundamental principle in public health care as is separation of church and state in government. Also doctors need to be taught many different ways of healing the sick which includes the use of many different types of natural and holistic treatments to bring down the overall cost of healthcare, prevent disease and heal patients naturally and much more affordably. Let the doctor and the patient decide what is the best or most desirable treatment and not multinational corporations. Business can still make its profits and the benefits of more diversified pharmaceutical and research industries will not only benefit the patient, but also the marketplace and the planet, not to mention patients. We will not be able to use petroleum products to make medicines for ever. Eventually the oil reserves will run low and the prices for medications will skyrocket to prices that will make today's look inexpensive! Medicine needs more of an emphasis on natural, low-tech, holistic, affordable therapeutics and less on high-tech, toxic, expensive and suppressive or dangerous ones.

Keep in mind also that Homeopathic Medicines do not take a huge toll on plant, mineral and animal resources to replicate a virtually endless supply of remedies. For example, a single plant can be processed to create a litre of alcohol tincture which can be safely stored for years without degradation and used as the primary source to create a nearly unlimited number of homeopathic potencies of that remedy: low, medium and high. For those whose primary interest in medicine is to make a lot of money, this is very disappointing information which they would rather be kept hidden from the public. So, in addition to being cost-effective by eliminating the need for many other types of medication, treatments and procedures, Homeopathy is kind to the environment as well since it does not use up valuable resources such as petroleum, plastics, and large amounts of seed material to make medicines.

The Scientific Pillars of
Classical Homeopathic Medicine

Homeopathic Medicine is based on the original work on homeopathic therapeutic principles, Organon der Heilkunst, or simply Organon or The Organon, by The Founder of Classical Homeopathic Medicine, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. An organon is a set of directions or instructions about how to do something with doctrines and rules included for proceeding. The general translation of the original German title is "Organon of the Healing Art" or "The Organon of Medicine".

Homeopathic Medicine's name comes from the Law of Similars (Similia Similibus Curentur, Latin for: "Let likes be cured with likes.") which dictates that the remedy choice must be based on the totality of the symptoms presented by the patient and be similar to those symptoms, not contrary to them. "Homo" means same and "pathy" means disease. In essence, Homeopathy can be viewed as the art and science of treating the sick with an artificial disease which is similar to the actual disease. In this new, advanced biodynamic healing system the symptoms are looked upon as the attempt by the Vital Force (the innate, natural and powerful healing and self-regulating powers of the organism) to heal itself. The genius of homeopathy is to accurately and objectively observe and interpret these symptoms without prejudice or pre-ordained conclusions in mind (physical, emotional, mental and otherwise) and to choose the most similar remedy from the Homeopathic Materia Medica to assist the Vital Force in completing the healing that it has begun but cannot finish, due to some weakness or limitation, through the expression of the symptoms. In this way, Homeopaths accurately "read" the language of the Vital Force (symptoms); and it is this Vital Force which is the miracle that does all of the healing (not the remedy! - the remedy only stimulates the Vital Force into action and assists it in completing its task of restoring homeostasis and balance: health). This is the process which takes place when you begin Classical Homeopathic Therapy.

One Remedy at a Time. Following this rule is a must in order to maintain scientific clarity on the case. Whenever there is more than one medicine present in the patient's system, there is tremendous confusion of symptoms and drug interactions. It is therefore more difficult to accurately read the case and the resulting care for the patient seeking homeopathic therapy is reduced in quality and effectiveness. The Homeopath does not know for sure whether the drugs are causing particular symptoms or if these are symptoms of the patient or if they are the results of drug interactions. The only time Classical Homeopaths will break this rule and give more than one remedy at a time, is if the patient is in a dire state, has severe injuries or is very close to death due to illness. In such cases, there is little time to judge the effectiveness of each remedy given separately with periods of observation after each medicine and the chances of recovery are much greater if the homeopath gives all the remedies that he or she feels may help the patient's condition in such a critical state. In this type of situation, people are frequently quite surprised to find that such cases are not as hopeless as first thought - even when the patient's life is so close to the end - if a skilled Homeopath is allowed to try to save the patient when Allopathic Medicine has run out of options. These and similar cases are the only times a Classical Homeopath will give more than one remedy at a time. And even in these cases, if the patient rallies, the homeopath will revert to single doses as the patient moves out of danger to eliminate confusion of symptoms and therefore he can prescribe more accurately to further improve the health of the patient. Patients, their relatives and friends should have the choice of the power of Homeopathic Medicine when Allopathy cannot do more. There are things that Homeopathy can do that Allopathy cannot, and vice versa. We should use the strengths of both systems to give more comprehensive and higher quality care to patients.

Classical Homeopaths rely on the Vital Force of the patient to do the healing and not on biochemical or physical manipulation. Although, at certain times, obvious physical impediments to the healing process must be attended to mechanically, such as in cases of broken bones requiring to be set and open wounds that need to be cleaned and sutured before the administration of internal homeopathic medicine.

There is a huge difference in the medical perspective of a truly Classical Hahnemannian Homeopath and an Allopathic Medical Doctor, researcher or teacher. The latter conceptualizes the healing powers of medicine strictly in its ability to combat microorganisms with chemical compounds or to manipulate the patient's physiology with some form of supplementation or short-circuiting therapy. Homeopaths know that deeper and non-suppressive healing comes from the Vital Force of the patient. Therefore, the approach of the Homeopath is to stimulate the Vital Force into more efficient healing activity, and to use whatever hygenic, supplemental, complimentary and adjunctive therapies that are necessary to support healing while not interfering with the healing reaction to the homeopathic medicine from the Vital Force.

Most Classical Homeopaths don't realize that their understanding of the healing process is in accord with the discoveries of the great French nineteenth century scientist, Antione Bechamp, whose seminal work, The Blood (French: Le Sang) was refuted by his contemporary Louis Pasteur and his followers. Bechamp said that microorganisms actually are the result of a change in the form of ubiquitous and normally innocuous microzymas which live in the body in a different forms which correspond to a changes in the health and terrain of the individual (pleomorphism). Pasteur said that the microorganisms found in a sick patient have come into the economy from the outside and have caused the illness and only have one form (monomorphism). Well, we all know which theory has become the dominant one in Allopathic Medicine; however, as a Classical Homeopath with over fifteen years of experience, I believe Bechamp to be correct. And I have proven it to myself again and again by relying solely on the similimum rather than on allopathic approaches to illness. If the germ theory of medicine were correct, I would not have had the successes that I have had since mere energetically endowed sugar pills would be a match for such an invasion. Yet the medicines do actually stimulate the Vital Force into eliminating infections from within, without the assistance of anitbiotics. This gives greater weight to Bechamp's theories.

There are many more factors which make Classical Homeopathy the most scientific and powerful system of medicine such as miasm theory, Hering's Law, the regression pattern of symptoms, remedy layers and much much more, but with the limitations of space and time, I will let this list stand finished for now, illustrating only the basic and most important principles. All the reader need do to learn more is to read Hahnemann's Organon and Chronic Diseases, Kent's Lectures on Homeopathic Philosophy and Kent's Lectures on Homeopathic Materia Medica to list just a few classical homeopathic works to begin to uncover the enormity of Classical Homeopathy's logic, naturalist common sense and healing abilities in the hands of the trained and experienced practitioner.
