The destructive effects of the syphilitic miasm and of the mercurial dyscrasia have combined in large numbers of people to form a conglomerate disease morass that is truly pernicious to both the individual and to society in general on all levels: mental, emotional and physical.

To make an unfortunate situation worse, doctors don't understand either aspect of this vile combination. The concept of syphilis as a specific bacterial infectious disease caused by Treponema pallidum from the allopathic perspective fails to perceive the entire scope of the syphilitic miasm in its many manifestations and new forms into which it has transformed due to the suppressive effects of antibiotic therapies, inheritance and combining with other diseases and conditions. Syphilis from the homeopathic philosophical perspective is a huge miasm which takes many forms and is alive and well today, despite the notion from the allopathic establishment that antibiotics have all but contained syphilis. Not at all true. It has just been suppressed and transmuted into many different and equally deadly forms. But also actual syphilis is on the rise in sexually active groups such as gay and bisexual men, sex workers and the promiscuous in general. Vaginal and anal sex without a condom are still the highest risk behaviors for contracting primary syphilis. For this reason it is important to use condoms when having sex outside of a monogamous relationship.

Right along side of the syphilitic miasm, and very frequently bound to it, though it exists on its own just as well, is the mercurial dyscrasia which is similar to syphilis and the syphilitic miasm in many ways. The pandemic of chronic mercury poisoning by wholesale contamination of the population with mercury, principally from dental amalgams or silver fillings has created huge explosions in this complicated disease morass in developed countries today and is at the root of countless diseases and early deaths for its victims. More and more today, as educated people become aware of the detrimental effects of mercury on one's health, those who are still receiving amalgams generally comprise large members of the lower class and the uneducated who are unable to pay for more expensive less toxic restorations or know enough to avoid them and to request composite or other materials.

If you ask a typical homeopathic instructor or read the classical texts the remedies listed under the rubric of syphilis or syphilitic will invariably be the lesional antisyphilitics of the past. But this really doesn't mean much of anything today in an age where primary syphilis is seem much less often than the chronic mental and behavioral forms of syphilis. This is due to the tremendous abuse of antibiotics and chemical and metal compounds which have suppressed it into secondary, tertiary, latent and hereditary forms over generations of suppressive rather than curative therapies.

Not at all true, since there have been many outbreaks and epidemics of this disease recently in the developed world. Syphilis has never been even controlled by allopathic suppression in third world countries. It has simply been suppressed and has taken on many different and equally deadly forms globally both outwardly in the form of observable symptoms both physical and mental as well as inwardly in the form of changed blood work results. That's the problem with suppression. The disease is not cured, but pushed inside the patient and in the process takes on new forms of manifestation, eventually breaking out in the form of violent and destructive behaviors and primary infection.

To understand the idea of a suppressed miasm of a venereal disease such as syphilis, I would refer you to the works of Antoine Bechamp, an unpopular contemporary of Louis Pasteur, whose view of microbiology goes against the grain of modern allopathic medicine but is quite in step with Classical Homeopathic Laws and Principles. The degree to which we consider any remedy as being syphilitic directly corresponds to its possessing the power to produce or cure destructive tendencies both on the mental as well as physical levels of a patient or prover. Physical, emotional and mental and even spiritual symptoms must all be considered. The sheer force of destruction in all its manifestations, must correlate to the predominant forms of destructive behaviors and forces at work today and not be stuck in classical textbook definitions. These definitions of destructive tendencies must include both mental and emotional forms of destructive behaviors as well as the usual physical recognition of syphilitic symptoms where tissue degeneration, induration and ulceration is occurring as well as manifestations of morbid diseases and conditions. When I say a remedy is syphilitic that means that it has the power and ability to heal syphilitic symptoms in a patient, and is homeopathic to a particular set of destructive symptoms. It is an antisyphilitic therefore. A syphilitic remedy and an antisyphilitic remedy are just two ways to say the same thing.

Yes, of course, the lesional signs and symptoms and serological evidence of syphilitic cases must not be forgotten and need to be treated allopathically since it is important to stop the primary infection (homeopathic medicine can be taken concomitantly--and we need to be sure that the infection is halted), but the non-lesional syphilitic symptoms in cases today, being more numerous and destructive to the patient and to society at large, must play a much larger role in defining what a syphilitic remedy or patient is today rather than defining them strictly according to nineteenth and twentieth century texts, with an emphasis on physical symptoms. It is the job of homeopaths today to bring alive the science of Homeopathy and to revitalize the Materia Medica, Repertories and theoretical texts so that they can more easily be understood and used to help the suffering and dying men and women by homeopathic medical students of today. Students will not be drawn into Homeopathy if they cannot understand it. It must be rewritten but not essentially changed. It must be updated and elaborated upon, even translated (since many of the original texts where written in German and are not sufficiently translated and published). What is needed is for the healing science of Homeopathic Medicine is for it to be made easier to comprehend both in method and principle. The great texts of Homeopathy were mostly written in the last two centuries. It is time to take Homeopathy to the next level of growth: modernization and education.

The most destructive and syphilitic forces of today manifest themselves in the desire to kill, to fight and wage war, to hate, incite and vilify others, to terrorize and humiliate others, to torture, rape, rob and enslave fellow Human Beings, to poison to horde and to defame and desecrate. These are the most destructive and syphilitic effects of the mercurio-syphilitic dyscrasia which results in a destuctive genetic/hereditary diathesis in the family and in society in general which lead to a multitude of horrifying diseases, epidemics and pandemics of destructive and lethal natures. And, if you are a follower of George Vithoulkas' homeopathic philosophy, we could say that the decline in the incidents of lesional syphilis is directly proportional to the increase in manifestations of mental and emotional syphilitic states in the world today. I am paraphrasing here. Why? Because suppression of the lesional form does not cure, it only drives the disease deeper into the patient and manifests now more in the mental sphere and in the form of a chronic miasm which is a morbid force which inexorably drags the healthy being toward premature disease and death and is passed on to the next generation!

This disease is so intractable that allopathic medicine is needed to assist homeopathic to insure the eradication of the bacterial (spirochetes) infection in all stages. However, this is not to say that penicillin therapy (the standard treatment for syphilis as well as other antibiotics even today) eradicates the whole disease. It does not. It just cuts the head off the monster and Homeopathy must come in to eradicate the miasmatic taint that is usually left from primary infection, even if the patient is treated before the disease progresses to the secondary and tertiary stages. The existence and destructive activity in the patient of the syphilitic miasm independent of positive blood test evidence of its presence (VDRL and RPR tests are the most typical) is even more evident in cases where the miasm has been inherited or acquired in a latent form through sexual contact with someone in that stage of the disease. Serological tests may be consistently negative as may CNS fluid tests from a lumbar puncture, yet the disease can rage on and greatly shorten the life of the patient, reduce their quality of life and promote violent and destructive behaviors that effect everyone.

The suppressed syphilitic miasm is much more likely to manifest as destructive mental and emotional symptoms than when it is predominantly affecting the epidermal layers of the patient. Most good Homeopaths know that the mental symptoms of the patient nearly always improve when the skin in producing eruptions. This is an example of the remedy producing a centripetal force on the disease and pushing it away from the more vital systems of the patient and towards the periphery where it does less harm and the tissues affected are less vital to the survival of the patient. With a curative regression of a disease it is observed that as the case is going in the curative rather than the pathological direction of development the mental and emotional symptoms will improve while the bodily and skin symptoms will temporarily become worse. This is the process of externalization of the disease process.

Moreover, today the syphilitic miasm has been amalgamated with its most similar drug-induced miasm, mercurialization to form a most destructive combination miasm that plagues most of the developed countries. From a homeopathic view, the symptoms produced by poisoning from mercury in its many forms causes symptoms, diseases and premature death in forms most closely resembled by syphilis in all its stages. Therefore, to poison or to be poisoned from mercury is to create in an individual manifestations of mercurialization or, if the syphilitic miasm is already present, the patient becomes the victim of a combined miasmatic morass we can call the mercurio-syphilitic dyscrasia. In some few cases where they are similar enough to each other, one will cure the other, but in the great majority of cases, they exist bound together dissimilar enough not to be able to stimulate the Vital Force to eradicate them and contribute to much horrible suffering, disease and premature death for the unfortunate person.

Chronic mercury poisoning effects the brain, tissues and the behaviors of the patient is ways that are very similar to the syphilitic miams. Chronic degenerative diseases, immume suppression, ulcerations, indurations, early decline and premature old age, wasting syndromes, drug and alcohol abuse, violent and destructive behaviors and relationships are all part and parcel of the mercurial dyscrasia. Combined with the syphilitic miasm or actual syphilis, these poor patients suffer greatly and end up in very unfortunate circumstances, to say the least, from any perspective you may take. This deadly combination is greatly served and gradually unraveled by the mercurio-syphilitic remedies listed below. Along with the elimination of sources of mercury poisoning (excessive fish and seafood consumption, dental amalgams, et c.) and blood tests and treatment for syphilis if necessary, positive changes to the lifestyle diet and so forth, these remedies will transform the degenerating, dying and despairing as best as can be done. Keep in mind that with tissue ulcerations or destruction, Homeopathy can not stimulate the vital force to regrow all tissues that may have been destroyed by this pathological combination or either one by itself. But in the majority of these cases Homeopathy offers great assistance both for the mind and the body in these types of cases.

This page only begins to touch on this complex and multi-faceted subject. Below is a list of homeopathic remedies that I consider to be strongly syphilitic (that is, having a strong ability to cure syphilitic symptoms in patients whose symptoms are similar to them). The remedies that have the ability to cure syphilis in all its forms also have the ability to reverse the poisoning effects of mercurialization. As a matter of fact, when you think of a syphilitic remedy, think mercurio-syphilitic remedy instead.
