In some cases it may be required to undergo allopathic treatment in addition to homeopathic. Cooperation between any attending specialists such as Oncologists, Medical Doctors, Surgeons and Homeopaths is vital to obtaining the best possible results employing both major systems of medicine in these cases. From a purely analytical perspective, when I look at the homeopathic rubric (Phoenix, plus additions from classical sources, teachers and personal observations): Chest, Cancer, Mammae, I see more than 60 remedies listed. Most are written in regular type indicating that they are generally indicated in breast cancer cases rather infrequently. About 30 are listed in italic type, indicating that these are needed more commonly. And in bold type, indicating that these remedies have a great affinity for this condition and are frequently needed, there are only five. They are: Bufo vulgaris, Conium maculatum, Graphites, Mercurius and Silicea. In such a large rubric, the fact that only five are in bold type indicates that these must be considered very closely in breast cancer cases before deciding on another remedy. The ultimate choice of the remedy however, as always in Classical Homeopathic Therapeutics, must be based on the totality of the objective and subjective symptoms, the case history, the etiology, the essence and modalities of the case and all other relevant information pertaining to the patient. In some cases the remedy which may act most beneficially or curatively may not even be in the rubric, no matter how "complete" the repertory claims to be. This is an example when the powers of observation, analysis and synthesis of the Homeopath come into play and must govern ultimately the choice of the remedy. Reference works are tools for the Homeopath to examine possibilities but the ultimate decision on remedy selection and treatment must be based on the unique symptoms and condition of the patient.

Looking at this rubric of breast cancer remedies, one is faced with a lot of information. The remedies, in most cases, point to curative medicines for the condition, but when the rubric highlights a poisonous substance that most people in developed countries are exposed to, then this substance (listed as a remedy) must be considered as a causative agent or an etiology for the disease. Remember, homeopathic medicines cure diseases, but the same substance in crude form can also produce diseases when they become a source of poisoning. Of these five remedies in bold type for breast cancer only Mercury is one such substance. And, incidentally, many other prominent remedies in this rubric are remedies frequently indicated after poisoning from mercury such as Hepar sulph., Kali iod., Lachesis, Nitric acid, Phytolacca, Silicea and others. Although the psoric, sycotic, cancerinic and syphilitic miasms, the tubercular taint, lifestyle factors, heredity and many other things come into play, in my opinion we are still faced with mercury poisoning as a major causative factor in many of these cases of cancers, tumors, polyps, cysts, malignant or not, metastasized or not, for the breasts as well as other tissues of the body.

If mercury is found to be a major causative agent in your case, it is wise to consult with a professional who has experience treating these types of conditions, as mercury is difficult and dangerous to remove from the tissues due to it cloying quality and high level of toxicity. I have found that a regimen of high levels of antioxidants, a high protein high fiber diet, natural laxatives if necessary and constitutional homeopathic treatment works well, but it requires patience, diligence and supervision from a medical professional with experience in this area. Although the outward pathology may reverse after only a few months of therapy, it takes years to remove all the mercury and related amalgam metals and microorganisms that accompany them from the body and brain. Millions of people are walking around with silver fillings in their mouths and women are no exception. Please refer to the Mercury Pages for more information on this subject. Suffice it to say that with mercury and its common antidotes so prominently featured in the breast cancer rubric, we must at least consider that mercury from dental amalgams, fish and seafood consumption and other sources is a causation in a great number of cases. This does not mean that homeopathic Mercurius is the curative remedy in cases of breast cancer caused by mercury poisoning. Quite the contrary. It is very much contra-indicated to give Mercurius in cases of mercury poisoning. Homeopathic mercury is mercury just as crude mercury is, only it is a higher energetic vibration of mercury, not crude mercury. To give Mercurius in such cases will poison the patient much further (on the energetic level) and suppress the case to a state of confusion that it may be considered "incurable" by most homeopathic practitioners, leaving only allopathic treatment modalities for therapeutic consideration.
