It seems to me that we have another one. I wanted to update the Anacardium page to comment on this horrific tragedy which occurred just days ago. Cho Seung Hui is just the latest mass murderer to rear his head who suffered from the Anacardium mental pathology.

Cho's disturbing and revealing attempts at writing are all over the Internet, Richard McBeef and Mr. Brownstone. I won't quote them here. Funnily enough his English professor brought his disturbed mental state to the attention of her superiors, but no action was taken.

The failure is not that of the university or security systems or the police, it is the fault of the medical system! Medical students training to become physicians, no matter what specialization they will pursue, must be able to recognize right away certain public health dangers when they are seeing patients. This is part of their medical duty. Contagious fevers and rashes and all sorts of epidemic diseases must be recognizable to the doctor. Signs of venereal diseases, pneumonia, and many other conditions that effect public health must be recognized, treated and reported. Mental diseases must fall into this category also. Medical Doctors must update their knowledge and learn to recognize a potential serial killer before it's too late. The image of Anacardium is not difficult to recognize with a little bit of study. Homeopaths must know Allopathic Medicine fundamentals otherwise we would be missing fully half of medical knowledge. The reverse needs to happen for allopathic practitioners to fill in gaps in their medical education. Most practitioners are missing a huge chunk of medical knowledge by not having any training at all in Homeopathic Medicine. This is a great shame. Allopathic practitioners of all types (anything other than Homeopaths basically) need to be trained in the fundamentals of Homeopathic Medicine. This includes being able to recognize and treat common mental states that can progress toward a tragic end. This includes all practitioners, not just counselors, MFCCs, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Personal Coaches, etc. If one doesn't have sufficient knowledge of Homeopathy to give the correct remedy, then referral to a practitioner who does is essential in averting not only mass tragedies such as the V-Tech mass murder, but will save the life of the individual with the mental disease to begin with and nip the destructive force in it's infancy.

The reasons for the mental state are not as important as recognizing it once it is present. Abuse is the most common etiology for the Anacardium mental pathology and the prisons are loaded with individuals who suffer from this ailment, among others. Cho's caustic, vulgar and violent writing attempts at the university were a unconscious cry for help, but noone answered the call. Even after Cho's English professor made known her concerns about the student's troubled mind to her superiors nothing was done. Noone referred Cho to counseling, psychiatric evaluation, referral to an Homeopath or anything kind of mental support network at all as far as I know. This is one mistake of many along the chain of the troubled youth's life where the opportunity was missed to treat the mental illness of this young man. And now we have upon us the results of this medical neglect.

Here are the red line symptoms that practically scream for Anacardium orientale in this case. The killer frequently stated or wrote that others caused him to commit these atrocities. This, in homeopathic parlance is the mental symptom, Mind, Delusions, Superhuman, Control, is under. You will see Anacardium there along with snake remedies, Thuja and others. Another indication for Anacardium here which should be a red flag to practitioners is the fact that Cho was emotionless, dead and unfeeling. One account from a student caught in the massacre and who survived remarked at how calm, emotionless and unfeeling he was as he shot and killed dozens of his former classmates and a professor. Also threatening to kill is another big Anacardium symptom. In his writings and I'm sure in his statements to some people, as will be revealed in the numerous stories and profiles in the media that are now being done on Cho, he had threatened to kill many times. One described him as the loneliest person he had ever met. This implies a great feeling of isolation from others and paranoia. Look at Mind, Forsaken, Isolation, Sensation of. Anacardium is here as well. Cursing and using foul, offensive language is another Anacardium confirmation.

Anacardium is not the only remedy for mass killers and murderers, but it is one of the biggest. I would venture to say that it is serial killer, mass murdered remedy number one. Anacardium orientale, or Anacardium as it is simply called is needed in people who have been abused, feel inadequate and consequently feel the need to prove themselves. They suffer from conflicting emotions that they cannot resolve. They eventually become hard-hearted and unfeeling and devoid of emotion and can even become very cruel and desire to dominate, torture, humiliate and ultimately kill others. They are torn by conflicts about many things and are as if two people or one person who has two sides. They have tremendous hatred for others as well as themselves. They are finicky and fastidious and are obsessed with cleanliness and orderliness. In insanity cases, they will cut your throat coldly but then clean up the mess meticulously. This is one of the top remedies needed by most Americans and by people in general, world-wide. It is needed many times daily in busy practices both for average folks and for those headed for mental troubles. They develop a religious insanity sometimes and frequently feel evil or possessed by the devil (which many people would say they are). Or they can become fanatical or end up under someone's powerful abusive influence, be it an individual or an organization being brain-washed into giving rein to their horrible thoughts which haunt them. Many terrorists who needed Anacardium have been recruited by zealots and those who incite others to violence, their hateful tendencies channeled into nefarious schemes of great evil (Thuj.,Hyos., Stram.).

But most of those who need Anancardium can have a much milder pathology and end up spending their lives trying to prove themselves to others or to please others, currying the good opinion of others. Often you see the macho type of Anacardium, with lots of tattoes, muscles, leather and piercings who may or may not succumb to urges to dominate, torture or to kill others. They can be very neurotic or tend towards being homicidal. They threaten others and try to intimidate them. They go to the gym, get tattooed, ride a big loud motorcycle and wear leather to impress and intimidate others. Inside they really feel totally inadequate and even evil. And dead. They feel evil inside and dead. Unfeeling. Heartless and cold. This is why many turn to religion in fear of this evil side they sense in themselves, and many can keep it under control at least with a spiritual practice in their life and supportive friends and family. But if they are among abusive people, family, friends, drug and alcohol then the Anacardium pathology can easily reach full criminal insanity. These people when they become very sick can only feel something emotionally when they are inflicting pain on others or are dominating them totally. This is one of the "Big Four" remedies that I mention on the page pertaining to the need for healthcare providers to understand basic Homeopathy. This is a polycrest remedy needed by millions of people around the world. This remedy must be understood by healers to help prevent atrocities in the future. This is a very big remedy that is missed constantly by Homeopaths who don't understand its essence. It is an important remedy to know well. One could easily require this remedy and not present with the typical symptoms listed for its use in the materia medica. Only a trained and experienced Homeopath can tell if you need Anacardium as a chronic remedy.

Many times Anacardium patients tend to be co-dependent people, getting into never-ending fights, break-ups and make-ups with their partner. They want to get away from the abusive husband but they love him or it will be some sort of love/hate relationship. A lot of S & M relationships are between Anacardium partners. Anacardiums can be very combative and want to start some kind of fight or drama with you even if you only work with them, or know them only a little. This is the remedy that is represented by the animated homeopathic quiz #1. They will frequently describe their feelings of conflicts about things as if they had a devil talking in their ear over one shoulder and an angel doing the same over the other one. They cannot resolve conflicts with finality and will stay in bad and abusive relationships for years without being able to walk away. This remedy is needed for a lot of battered women. This remedy is often indicated just as often for the sadist as for the masochist. When asked why they stay with such an abusive partner, they will say they love the person. But they also hate the person. Love hate relationships are usually two persons who both need Anacardium. If you give a dose of the remedy to each person in the relationship, they will either finally split up or make peace and begin to have a truly loving relationship. Many times the Anacardium person will gravitate to a job or a career in the military, the legal profession, the police force or in prisons or other positions that give them power over others. There are two sides to every remedy and Anacardium with it's characteristic split in the psyche is no exception. They can be either cruel, hard-hearted and mean or they can be neurotic, cowardly and continually searching for approval. Again, there are many remedies with similar profiles. Anacardium is just one remedy in thousands in the homeopathic materai medica. Laypersons read a couple of pages in a synoptic materia medica and they think that they understand how to use a remedy. In Homeopathy a miss is as good as a mile. If you don't administer the correct remedy, no deep and curative benefits will follow.

There are many, many people who need this remedy in America. It is needed almost as much as the most commonly needed homeopathic medicine, Stramonium. With so many "constitutional Anacardiums" in America it is not surprising that there are so many people who admire the sort of behaviors which a person who needs this remedy exhibits. This only reinforces the proliferation of the pathology and creates more people who are thrown into this mental pathology. Anacardium, like Stramonium, is a pathological state which propagates itself readily and easily to other people, especially to the young, the weak and to those interacting frequently with the person disseminating the pathology through circumstances of birth, employment or otherwise. In other words, a person suffering with the Anacardium mental/emotional pathology will, by his or her actions and speech influence others into developing it also. In fact the destructive, syphilitic mode of operation among Anacardiums is to develop codependent or sadomasochistic relationships in pairs with others. So you will see couples where both the woman and the man (or whatever combination of gender that there may be) both need Anacardium. This happens with Stramonium as well, though Stramonium is more of a "pack animal" creature and thrives more in group relationships than in pairs and Stramonium's primary motive in developing alliances is to protect himself and to avoid being alone. However, Anacardiums can belong to groups and gangs just as well as Sramoniums and Hyoscyamus (the inciter), since Anacardiums are really cowards on the inside and feel safer acting tough with a gang to help them. The Hyoscyamus is there to run the show and incite others to violence and to control them through fear. Hyoscyamus is one of the most important remedies for mental and emotional disorders.

Physicians, Medical Instructors, Acupuncturists, Chiropractors, Nurses, Naturopaths and all medical specializations must become thoroughly familiar with the most important homeopathic medicines which we call polycrests. These remedies are for the entire being and not for a single body part. Great misfortunes and tragedies may be avoided through the judicious administration of the correct remedy (the similimum) by the skilled observer. For other health care practitioners not to know these basic monumental remedies and philosophic gems of Homeopathic Medicine is like my not knowing anything about vaccines, blood test results or genetics, for example in allopathic medicine, or the Five Elements/ Zhang-Fu theory of Traditional Oriental Medicine! This ignorance in this day and age is simply ludicrous. If you are a health care provider and you were never taught Homeopathy, then it is your duty to learn it yourself.

Physically these Anacardium patients often have rheumatic symptoms and digestive disorders which are relieved by eating. They also frequently have arthritic symptoms of various sorts and frequently crack their own joints or see chiropractors a lot, especially about the cervical vertebrae. Frequently impotence in males is a great source of frustration and general hatred of self and of others. This reflects the general tendency to a numbing or deadness of feelings in the patient in general. It is as if they are dead inside. Emotionally dead. The emotions have died and the rest of the person is hard, cruel and unfeeling, as a result of being abused. This is the major causation of the Anacardium pathology: abuse. The only way they can be stimulated into feeling anything again is by making others suffer and feel pain. Now remember there are two types of Anacardium. We are only talking about the hard, cruel abusive type here. Anacardiums have a fear of authority figures and frequently challenge the person in their first meeting but will back down if stood up to, as even the macho Anac. is cowardly deep down.

I will elaborate on this remedy in the future, but let this stream of consciousness, concise materia medica for Anacardium suffice for the moment. I wanted to get this article up onto the site without all the hyperlinks and fancy presentation so that others who saw Dateline could understand Anacardium after seeing it up close and personal, as well as to highlight the need for knowledge of Homeopathy by GPs and other practitioners to help prevent such tragedies in the future.
