Generally, when those who are unfamiliar with TeleHomeopathy, or telemedicine using Homeopathy, think about consulting with an Homeopath from a distance, they think that it can't be as effective as in-person consultations. Not so. Email consultations are actually more accurate than in-person consultations. There are several reasons for this. One major reason is that there is no time pressure with email consultations for either the practitioner or the patient. Anything that is forgotten can be emailed when it is remembered to add to the case intake information. So better communication results from the absence of time constraints and the open and flexible nature of the email system. Short notes or long letters are quickly sent and received. The pace of the case analysis is slower than in-person consulting--generally it takes me a day or two to collect the case information and do the analysis--but I'd rather be a slower and more accurate than faster and make mistakes. Frequently the process is much faster and I complete the case intake, analysis and remedy selection in one day. This is usually because the patient provided excellent and complete information in one or two emails and this eliminated the need for me to email back questions to be answered. Either way, I find being thorough much more prudent than being fast. I am determined to help my patients safely, naturally, quickly and effectively. I follow the most important dictate of The Hippocratic Oath, "First, do no harm!"

Perhaps it is aspects of the way I run my practice that add to the accuracy of distance consultations. For example, I require all my patients to send me weekly email updates (or a telephone update if no access to the Internet is convenient) regarding their condition and symptoms. It need not be very long. You simply tell me what's better, what's worse, ask any questions you may have and so on. I reply with answers, recommendations and, if necessary, tell you that it is time for a repeat dose of your remedy, to order a new remedy or potency that you will need soon, to add a complimentary therapy that will help you, when to wait, etc. This is an essential tool for keeping the communication level high. Effective communication is the most important element to successful Homeopathic Therapy. Without it, whether you are sitting in the same room with the practitioner or across the globe writing emails, the results will be poor. Homeopathy needs two things for success: good communication and accurate individualization of treatment. Automatic treatments or remedy selection, fixed time intervals between consultations and other non-individualized practices are not really part of Classical Homeopathy and are counterproductive to the healing process.

For people who take herbal preparations daily, I wanted to inform them of the symptoms that some of these substances can create in your mind and body that you did not have in the first place.
